The client lovingly referred to this project as “the house that time forgot.” While they cherished the home’s incredible lot and location, its 20-year-old design was in desperate need of updating. The goal was to create a space that harmonized with their existing furniture and artwork collection.
A thoughtful blend of modern and traditional finishes gave the home a fresh, updated look while maintaining a warm and inviting atmosphere. Even the smallest changes made an impact, dramatically improving the home’s functionality and flow. Friends and family now enjoy all these impressive updates, making the home a welcoming space for everyone.
Project Completed: 2023

The hands of time were stuck in this house where the design felt firmly rooted in the early 2000s. Ornate detailing and warm accents made the home feel dated and heavy. Oversized, dark Roman columns detracted from the bright, open feel and interrupted the natural flow between spaces.
The kitchen was defined by a two-level, fan-shaped island and curved ceiling soffit, which closed off circulation and limited the sense of openness. The primary bedroom featured a wall of floor-to-ceiling mirrors that did not complement the client’s desired aesthetic. The home’s three-piece pool bathroom was ordinary, but had the potential to be both luxurious and memorable, while two additional bathrooms presented opportunities to modernize.
The updated floor plan allowed a more natural connection between kitchen, dining, and gathering spaces. It focused on thoughtful recalibration while upgrading the quality of materials throughout the home. Openings were adjusted to improve circulation, and unnecessary architectural weight, including ceiling details and columns, were softened or removed.
In the kitchen, white shaker cabinetry would instantly brighten, while a substantial, single-level island would anchor the space. The floor-to-ceiling mirrors in the primary bedroom would be removed and replaced with grasscloth wallpaper to create a more inviting retreat. Bathrooms would follow the same philosophy: A balance of modern and classic finishes. Additional projects addressing other areas of the home enhanced the overall remodel and improved functionality for an elevated living experience.
