This kitchen remodel was about opening the space and honoring what matters most. By removing the bulky peninsula and unnecessary windows, the layout feels lighter and more fluid. Sleek slab cabinetry and bold black-and-white veined quartz bring modern drama, while large-format tile grounds the design with durability and intention.
The appliance layout was reimagined for better flow, making the kitchen as functional as it is striking. At its heart, a wall-mounted sculpture created by the client’s late husband was thoughtfully preserved, framed, and illuminated, turning the kitchen into a deeply personal space where modern design and meaningful memory coexist.
Project Completed: 2025

The original kitchen featured a two-tier peninsula that closed off the space from the adjacent family room, making the layout feel less airy. Traditional cabinetry created a segmented look and offered limited storage efficiency. Small, decorative windows dotted the walls creating fragmented sightlines that disrupted visual harmony. The finishes, while practical, did not reflect the client’s personal aesthetic.
The reimagined kitchen included replacing the peninsula with a spacious island to improve flow and everyday usability. The refrigerator would be relocated beside the double oven for better workflow, and high-end appliances integrated into streamlined cabinetry with bold materials for better alignment with the client’s distinctive taste.
With fewer interruptions along the walls, the client’s artistic expression would be on full display. The paintbrush sculpture, mounted directly on drywall, would require an innovative removal by carefully keeping the wall section intact. With glass reframing and gimbal light illumination, it would be both preserved and the space’s focal point.
