This kitchen remodel was thoughtfully designed to support aging in place while creating a space that feels open, bright, and timeless. Raising the ceiling transformed the room, allowing light to fill the space and giving it an airy, welcoming presence. Replacing the former peninsula with a generous island improved flow, seating, and everyday functionality.
The result is a kitchen that balances beauty and practicality, designed for daily living today with comfort, safety, and ease for years to come.
Project Completed: 2025

The original kitchen featured a lower ceiling with a recessed light well and ceiling fan, which visually compressed the space and limited natural light. Cabinetry and finishes felt dated, and the peninsula created a partial barrier between the kitchen and adjacent living areas.
While the bones of the kitchen were solid, the homeowners wanted a brighter, more open environment that would improve everyday usability and require minimal maintenance as they age.
The kitchen redesign would start with replacing the peninsula with a large island to improve traffic flow, add prep space, and seating. Raised ceilings would dramatically transform the volume of the room and create an airy atmosphere. Additional storage would be found by converting an old closet to expanded cabinetry, including a custom built-in wood pantry cabinet with pull-out trays. Other features to include were an induction range for safety, low-maintenance quartz countertops, durable and waterproof flooring, and double pull-out trash bins.
